Treat Yourself to a Chocolate Treatment
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
A Night at the Cinema
Last night I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, starring Johnny Depp and I absolutely loved it! Having read the book and seen the original, I wasn't sure what to expect, especially as I have heard mixed reviews. Some have loved this new version; some have totally hated it so I thought it best to judge for myself!

Charlie Savours the Wonka Bar
In my opinion, director Tim Burton did a fantastic job in bringing Roald Dahl's classic book to life. Willy Wonka, the eccentric chocolatier attempts a world wide quest to search for a new heir to his dynasty. He distributes five Golden Tickets in random Wonka Chocolate Bars and the luck children are invited to a special tour of his factory; a factory no-one has entered for 15 years. He we meet Augustus Gloop who has eaten so much chocolate he looks as if he will pop at any second; Mike Teavee the television/computer game obsessed kid who thinks he knows it all; Violet Beauregarde the bubblegum chewing 'champion' intent on winning anything and everything; Veruca Salt the spoilt brat who's daddy's little girl and who always gets what she wants; then there's little Charlie - the good-hearted little boy from a very poor family who genuinely finds the last golden ticket through pure luck.
Chocolate Rivers and Edible Grass

Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka
On they set on their magical tour which truly is amazing. I want to drink from that chocolate river, eat the edible grass, watch for myself those highly trained squirrels that sort nuts faster than any machine on the land, and travel in that fantastic glass elevator that goes upways, sideways and any which way you want ways. The Oompa Loompas were also great in their little red PVC outfits but somewhat eerie looking; all of them with identical faces. And I must admit Johnny Depp played an excellent Willy Wonka, although a bit creepy at times but very funny.
Karin Herzog Chocolate Treatments
I managed to much through a large bag of minstrels while watching the film and actually felt like Augustus Gloop's older sister afterwards. So, I'm going to lay off eating so much chocolate for a while and stick to my Karin Herzog Chocolate moisturiser instead. Made from Swiss Chocolate combined with orange and avocado oils to smooth and soften your skin, I love this moisturiser especially as it helps to satisfy my chocolate cravings - it smells lush. Maybe, I'll treat myself to a Chocolate Facial; my favourite treatment at Beauty of Bedford, although the Luxury Chocolate Manicures and Pedicures are soon catching up!
Cocoa is the most natural source of magnesium and when our magnesium levels are raised, our progesterone levels also rise. Our progesterone levels drop at certain points of the menstrual cycle and throughout the menopause which in turn causes mood swings. However, we also need progesterone to:
- Protect against breast cysts
- Help use fat for energy and keep it off hips
- Act as a natural diuretic (water pill)
- Act as a natural anti-depressant
- Facilitate thyroid hormone action
- Normalize blood clotting
- Increase libido
- Normalize blood sugar levels
- Normalize zinc and copper levels
- Restore proper cell oxygen levels
- Prevent endometrial cancer
- Help prevent breast cancer
- Increase bone building
